Friends' Craft Centre at the Plant Craft Cottage

Join the Craft Cottage. This group is just part of an exciting range of activities and events the Friends run for their members. The Friends support the Botanic Gardens providing financial and volunteer support for projects and events. Love the Gardens? Join the Friends! 

The Craft Cottage aims are:

  •  to promote traditional plant crafts

  •  foster interest in the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne    

  •  maintain the heritage-listed building 

Opening Times 2017:

  • Open:      Tuesday to Friday 10 am to 3 pm; and the third Sunday of each month 11 am to 4 pm
  • Closed:   Closed on Mondays, weekends (except for 3rd Sunday of each month) and all public holidays. 
  • Where:     In the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne just in from H Gate on Alexandra Ave (Melways map 2G, B11) (metered parking available in Alexandra Avenue)
  • Cost:        Free entry. Come along.
  • Christmas closing: Friday 15 December 2017 - Cottage re-opens Tuesday 9 January 2018

Workshops at the Cottage

The Craft Cottage holds regular workshops each quarter. These are for both Adults and Children. Adult Craft Workshops usually involve Basketry, Dyeing or Fibre crafts. The School Holiday Craft Workshops usually involve Basketry, Weaving, Card Making, Paper making and Fantastic Friends.

Craft Group Meet Ups at the Cottage

There are a number of Craft Groups at the Cottage practising traditional plant crafts. These include Natural Dye, Fibre, Paper, Plant Card, Pot Pourri, Basketry and working in the Cottage Garden. Everyone is welcome to visit the Cottage, especially on meeting and demonstration days. Read more about these .....
