Autumn Insiders Walk - A Royal Walk [30]

Queen Elizabeth 2 planting a tree
Have you ever wondered about some of the stories behind the trees in the Gardens with small signs in front honouring the person who planted them?

Join us for a very British morning tea and introductions at Gate Lodge and then we will take a walk in the Gardens visiting a number of commemorative trees planted by royalty. Hear the stories that go with them. This walk is to mark Prince Harry and Meghan’s recent visit to Melbourne. We will visit the trees planted by Prince Harry’s grandmother (Queen Elizabeth II), great grandparents (George VI and Elizabeth) and great-great grandparents (George V and Mary).

There will be a special detour to see the tree whose parent may have sheltered Mary Queen of Scots; the palm planted by the Shah of Persia (while still on the throne); and the beautiful tree planted by Queen Salote of Tonga.

When: Thursday 28 March at 10 am
Where: Meet at Gate Lodge, 100 Birdwood Ave
Cost: $20 MEMBERS ONLY
Meet for refreshments at 10 am
